Where in the world . . . ?

On this day, June 27, in 1977, the country of Djibouti hoisted its flag as an independent country.  From 1894 until that date, Djibouti had been a territory of France.  Where in the world is Djibouti? It is a small country located on the eastern “horn” of Africa, bordered by Eritrea in the north, Ethiopia in the west and south, and Somalia in the southeast.  On the eastern border is the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The colors of the flag represent earth (green), the sea and sky (blue) and peace (white).  The red star in the white field symbolizes unity.
